Attorney & Educator

I am a licensed Indian attorney working as a Legal Fellow at boutique U.S. law firm, OMI Legal LLC. I'm based in New York City.

My work focuses on intellectual property rights, contract, and general commercial laws for small to medium-sized businesses across diverse industries like fashion, wellness, hospitality, entertainment, etc. I hold an LL.M. in Fashion Law from Fordham University School of Law, New York and B.B.A/LL.B (Hons.) from University of Mumbai, Thane Sub Campus, India.

Beyond my legal work, I am committed to driving meaningful change in the fashion industry. I deliver talks, mentor aspiring fashion lawyers, and volunteer with Remake, advocating for labor rights and sustainability in fashion. My goal is to make an impact - one conversation, workshop, or case at a time.

Work Experience

  • I was among the lucky 3 out of 10 selected for the Fashion Law practicum in 2024. This externship enhanced my business research skills in media and publishing. It also highlighted the value of mentorship.

  • Back in 2020, fashion law was unknown in India. I was determined to create a path, so I went solo, refusing to take a job until it aligned with my LL.M. goals. This journey taught me to build connections and think creatively for legal solutions. I worked with amazing startups and founders in the F&B and fashion industries. This experience pushed me to improve and navigate challenges to help my clients continuously.

  • This job was a dream come true! After 54 days of back and forth with the founder, Mrs. Gayatri Jolly Aggarwal, she took a chance on me as a 25-year-old aspiring fashion lawyer. This role gave me the confidence to navigate independently and taught me leadership and power in collaboration. I learned the value of female friendships in the workplace and gained experience working with diverse people.

  • As a Kalinga Fellow, I worked on tackling and educating people on the global issue of human trafficking, serving on the First Responders team. I engaged with survivors and heard their stories of resilience. This experience made me more empathetic and a better listener. I also co-developed a financial proposal to address injustices in Bangladesh's garment sector.

Graduation Outfit

The graduation outfit is a special creation handcrafted by three talented artisans from Lafaani, a small, ethical, and sustainable brand in India. Each stitch and fabric choice embodies the essence of my two homes - the vibrant colors of Mumbai and the dynamic street style of New York. It's more than just a piece of clothing; it represents my journey.
