This thesis is my baby, born from 4 months of dedication and my vision of the ideal fashion world. This thesis explores the complex relationship between fashion brands and indigenous communities in India, focusing on traditional designs within a legal framework. It highlights the gaps in modern legal systems that fail to protect Indigenous knowledge, leaving communities vulnerable. It critiques India's legal system, outlines the role of Free, Prior, and Informed Consent (FPIC), and reviews governmental initiatives. It proposes amendments to the Forest Rights Act of 2006 to protect indigenous designs and examines ethical collaborations between brands and communities.
